We have a throw back to this DELICIOUS and, well, noisy experiment in Ms. Kiel's 6th Grade science classes! She writes, "Today students learned states of matter through Pop Rocks. In our hands, they are solids (crystallized sugar candy) but in our mouths they change to liquid and gas. While it seems like the magic is happening in our mouths, it is actually happening during the manufacturing process where 'sugar syrup is heated (liquid) and then mixed with pressurized carbon gas (gas).' This is what creates the tiny bubbles. As the candy cools, it solidifies. When we place the candy in our mouths, the candy portion dissolves and releases the Carbon Dioxide. 'The rapid release of the gas creates the signature popping sounds and fizzing sensation.' Candy & Science, better together ;)" We couldn't agree more, Ms. Kiel! Thank you for sharing!

Ms. Harden's 5th grade science classes loved learning about the four spheres of Earth: the geosphere: hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. Students learned how these systems interact in multiple ways to affect Earth’s surface materials and processes. For a final project, students chose a specific ecosystem and created a 3D model to represent how the spheres work together. Students completed the model in class and were so proud of the final project! Well guess what, Ms. Harden and her lovely students, we are so proud of your final project, too. Great work!

Ms. Hensley's class was merging ELA and science with their latest activity! She writes, "My ELA students have finished their Module 3 Unit which was all about Natural Disasters! They showcased their learning with these awesome one pagers about different natural disasters! I am super proud of all their hard work!" We are proud of them too, Ms. Hensley!

Ms. Phillips and her 5th grade Social Studies students did a project that MANY people look back on as a favorite. But we'll let her tell you all about it! She writes, "These are my students sharing their Immigration project! Students researched their families history shared their customs and family traditions. They learned about customs that were adopted into America and ones that were created in America. I loved seeing the students proudly present their projects to their classmates. It was a wonderful experience to learn about each other!" What a great project, Ms. Phillips! And your students did a beautiful job. We know this is a project they'll never forget.
