The end of the school year may be around the corner, but we're still working hard over here at the Intermediate School! Ms. Harwood’s 5th grade math class learned about simple probability today with m&ms! Students looked a theoretical, and experimental probability while doing this fun lab! We are certain the kids absolutely loved this experiment. Great work, Ms. Harwood!

Don't forget- ALL medications (prescription and non prescription) and medical supplies stored in the Nurse's Station must be picked up by 12:00pm on Friday, May 30th. After that, all items will be destroyed. Whether your student will stay at ILIS or move on to ILMS next year, we cannot hold onto meds for the next school year. New medical permission forms and self carry forms will need to be filled out in August for the new school year. If you have any questions, please email Nurse Leslie at leslie.plyler@lcsd.k12.sc..us Thank you!

Warrior Families, Returning Student Registration is officially OPEN. If you currently have a student in Kindergarten through 11th grade in the Lancaster County School District, you must fill out Returning Student Registration. Please login to your PowerSchool account (desktop highly recommended) and in the menu on the left, click "forms". Please review ALL forms in this section and make sure your information is updated and complete. This is a chance to change your address if you moved, update health information, and register for the bus. The deadline to register for the bus is May 31st, 2025. Failure to do so by this date could affect your student's access to a seat on the bus for the first day of school. FAQ: Q: I filled out the Transportation Google Document to register my student for the bus. Do I need to fill out anything else? A: YES. You still need to fill out the Returning Student Registration Forms on PowerSchool. Q: I moved, but still live in the area. Do I need to update my information? A: YES! Please update your address in PowerSchool, and then email or bring in the following TWO new proof of residency documents. --Mandatory: We need a copy of a tax bill showing your address, mortgage statement, OR current rental lease agreement. --Additionally, one of the following: a recent power, gas or water bill with a service address matching your name and residence address. Q: My student will be new to ILIS or ILMS (but already attending a school within LCSD), so I should fill out NEW student registration, correct? A: INCORRECT- if your student is currently attending a school in LCSD, you will fill out RETURNING student registration forms in PowerSchool. Q: I'm already registered for the bus this year, do I need to fill something out again? A: YES. Please fill out the following google form found at this link by May 31st: https://lancastercsdsc.sites.thrillshare.com/article/2200895?fbclid=IwY2xjawKK0udleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFVVE9vQkpNRXN5TGhIZVQwAR7fmFzXx-3oFtcV7xd1e0-01GTEMrXciC9HMgkvC8RHiLQ2QCRJZVjD7Wx6Pg_aem_RwmCQfBLFGSWfcafNdw5dA Q: I cannot login to PowerSchool, what do I do? A: Please contact the school at 803-547-3600 to have your password reset or to find out your username. Q: Can I fill out one set of documents for all my students? A: NO. We need you to click on each student's profile and then fill out each set of forms. This should be a quick process if nothing has changed. Q: I filled out the forms, but they still show pending. Should I fill them out again? Is there a problem? A: NO. Once you fill them out they will show pending until they are manually reviewed and approved, this could take a little time. You will be contacted if there is a question. Your patience is appreciated.

We have a fun post to share from the wonderful world of ILIS Band! Ms. Riddle writes, "This past Saturday, over 80 ILIS Band students went to Dutchman Creek Middle School to participate in the Solo and Ensemble Festival. Of those 80 students -- 25 received a Superior, 41 received an Excellent, 5 received a Good, and 5 received comments. These talented students have worked so hard with their groups to prepare for this event. Congratulations everyone!" Congrats, indeed! Our band program in Indian Land is amazing, and it all starts right here at ILIS. This is the first chance many of these students get to play an instrument. Thanks to the collaboration between staff at ILIS, ILMS and ILHS, our musicians are guided throughout their education to become exceptional players and have opportunites like these. We love our band!

We have a very important update from the nurse's station. There is a LOT of information we made as simple as possible in the infographic below. If you have any questions, please email Nurse Leslie at leslie.plyler@lcsd.k12.sc.us. If you'd like more details on the infographic bullet points, please continue to read the following message: 1. ALL MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLIES MUST BE PICKED UP BY 5/30. ANY LEFT BEHIND WILL BE DESTROYED. All medications and medical supplies, including but not limited to prescription drugs, EpiPens, non-prescription medications, and medical snacks (e.g., for diabetic care), must be picked up no later than May 30, 2025. Any items not retrieved by this date will be properly destroyed. No exceptions. Please note: these items cannot and will not be transferred to Indian Land Middle School (ILMS) or held over the summer for any rising 6th grade students. It is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian to collect these materials by the stated deadline. 2. NEW MEDICATION/SELF CARRY PERMISSION FORMS ARE REQUIRED EVERY SCHOOL YEAR. New Medication Permission and Self-Carry Authorization Forms are required EACH school year. Forms from prior school years are not valid and will not be accepted for the 2025–2026 academic year. To avoid disruption in care, please access the required forms via the school’s website under “Nurse’s Station.” Completed forms and medications may be submitted beginning August 5, 2025. Important Reminder: Under no circumstances are students permitted to carry or self-administer any medication, including over-the-counter items such as ibuprofen or cough drops, without a fully executed and submitted Self-Carry Authorization Form. 3. ALL RISING 7TH GRADERS MUST HAVE UPDATED TDAP! South Carolina law requires that all students entering the 7th grade have documentation of a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine administered after the student’s 10th birthday. Proof of this vaccination must be submitted to Indian Land Middle School no later than August 11, 2025 (the first day of school). For inquiries, please contact ILMS directly. 4. NEW SCDPH LAW: RISING 5TH GRADERS MUST HAVE TWO HEPATITIS A VACCINES. Per updated South Carolina Department of Public Health (formerly SCDHEC) guidelines, all rising 5th grade students must have two documented doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine. If your child’s current vaccine records on file are incomplete, please submit updated documentation via email to Nurse Leslie or deliver it to Indian Land Intermediate School prior to the new school year. The first day of school is August 11th, 2025. 5. PLEASE RETURN ALL BORROWED CLOTHING BY MAY 30TH. If your child has borrowed clothing from the school due to accidents or unforeseen circumstances, we respectfully request that these items be washed and returned no later than May 30, 2025. These garments are part of a limited and generous donation supply that serves multiple students throughout the year. Timely return ensures continued access for those in need.
