🎄 Ambush Club & Law Enforcement Services Give Back 🎄
The Ambush Club, Law Enforcement Services students, and the Heyward Family proudly volunteered their time on December 5th and 6th to support the long-standing community event, “Christmas with Chuck.” This annual toy and canned food drive benefits families across Lancaster County and truly reflects the spirit of the season.
The event featured special appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, a car show, raffle prizes, and most importantly, the joy of giving back to our community. We extend our sincere gratitude to event coordinator Mrs. Lori Yarborough for partnering with the Ambush Club to make this event possible. A special thank you as well to Comporium for their generous support in providing breakfast for the volunteers. We are proud of our students and families for their service and commitment to the community.

Our Culinary Arts Management 2 class visited the USC Culinary Medicine and Food Share facility in Columbia, SC. Students learned about the impactful programs which help individuals who use food assistance programs to purchase healthy ingredients to create adventurous meals with whole foods. They also offer an elective course to the USC medical students that equips them to offer more relevant and empathetic advice to patients. This advice assists patients with generating benefits through medicine and food nutrition for stronger outcomes.

The Ambush Club’s November presentation, “Lessons Every Leader Must Learn,” was led by Rev. Anthony Pelham, CEO of The Community Powerhouse. Rev. Pelham delivered a dynamic, engaging, and impactful session that deeply resonated with our mentees. Topics explored during the presentation included understanding that life is a journey rather than a destination; the connection between good choices, good consequences, and a good life; and the importance of healthy acceptance. Students also participated in a reflective book club activity, where they analyzed a poem’s meaning, symbolism, and relevance to their own life experiences.
It was a thoughtful and powerful session that encouraged self-awareness, personal growth, and leadership development. A special thank you to Camp Creek United Methodist Church ⛪ for generously providing the meal for this event. Your support is truly appreciated.
